CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Working in learning, development and management has provided us with many opportunities to recruit, hire, train and supervise employees. From that experience, we know how important it is for a candidate to have a well-prepared resume, professionally written cover letter, and the ability to answer interview questions with thoughtful examples and specific outcomes. We also know how many candidates struggle with one or more of these career requirements. To help students, individuals and employees be more prepared for careers - understanding their purpose, exploring what a meaningful life means to them, aligning their strengths with career options, and/or successfully getting to and acing the interview - we provide intentional coaching, resume and cover letter review, and mock interviews with concrete feedback. We encourage candidates to focus on what makes them unique, discover their skills and talents, and showcase how much they can offer the hiring manager's organization.
Similarly to Personal Strengths Coaching, there are three options available for individuals looking to become more prepared for a new job, career change, or to explore options that will allow them to be personally and professionally fulfilled.
The Introductory Career Coaching session aims to help you understand the basics of the CliftonStrengths tool and discuss your Top 5 Signature Themes results. You will get a basic overview on how your strengths filter your personal and professional world, and start to identify how being aware of your strengths can help you explore career options that will bring you joy and are well-aligned with your innate talents. As part of the session you will receive a code to take the CliftonStrengths assessment (if you have not done so already) and a 1-hour coaching session.
The Intermediate Career Coaching session will dig deeper into ways you can start using your strengths to articulate your skills and align them with career aspirations. It will help identify ways to integrate knowledge, skills and talents into your resume and cover letter documents, ensuring you showcase the best version of yourself to a future employer. As part of the session you will receive a code to take the CliftonStrengths assessment (if you have not done so already) a 1-hour coaching session. The Intermediate Career Coaching package also includes resume and cover letter feedback prior to and after the session.
The Advanced Career Coaching session will provide you with the opportunity to think critically about your knowledge, skills and strengths by reflecting on personal examples and experiences that can be used to successfully answer interview questions. This process will help you begin to understand how to leverage your strengths and be more intentional in how you apply them to a resume, cover letter and interview process. As part of the session you will receive a code to take the full 34 CliftonStrengths assessment (if you have not done so already) and two 1-hour coaching sessions, which can include a mock interview if desired. The Advanced Career Coaching package also includes resume and cover letter feedback prior to and after the session.
If you have already participated in one of the career coaching options above and would like to continue your development in this area, you can select additional 1-hour Ongoing Career Coaching sessions as often as you would like.
